The passing of a friend is always a sad thing, but when the friend is someone as remarkable as Sam Lightsey, it carries an extra measure of sorry and regret.
Samuel Tully Lightsey passed away April 29th of this year at the age of 79. He was born in Madison, Florida, but spent much of his youth in Georgia. After finishing high school and college, he joined the United States Army where he served bravely and honorably. Unpon leaving the Army in 1954, Sam returned to Clyattville, Georgia and in 1956, he and Elsa Falk were married and began a family.
There is not enough space in this publication to recount all of Sam's accomplishments, but one of his passions starting from a very early age was art. Although he won many awards for his works, Sam actually disdained the judgement of art. Sam will be greatly missed by his family, and by a very large art community to which he contributed and attended with great distinction.
