Description
My history: Born in 1935 in Dothan, Alabama at Moody Hospital but never lived in Dothan. My grandparents lived in Headland and I was raised in Florida. Went to grammar school in Tallahassee, Miami, and Apalachicola. Went to and finished high school at Apalachicola.
Attended college at FSU, Univ of Florida, Chipola Jr College and Auburn University.
I like to think that I have been in photography almost my entire 75 years since I have a photo of myself at 3 mos. I was a subject...but that is a part of photography. My parents took many still photos and 16mm movies of me and themselves as I grew up but unfortunately they burned in a house fire that took my mother in 1993. I did have some of the stills at my house for which I am ever thankful. I have the first photo I ever snapped...in the 1940s!
I have had my photos published in a number of magazines: Florida Wildlife, Florida Game & Fish, Angus Journal, Commercial Carrier Journal, Horse Illustrated, Southern Discoveries, Wheeling Sportsmen as well as others. I have written 38 articles for ApogeePhoto.com in which I illustrated my own articles.
I was a past member of the Photographic Society of America and where I was active in International Exhibitions. In the 1970s I was ranked among the Top 10 members in photojournalism photographers in the world of PSA. I have had my work accepted for exhibition in 7 countries, 6 continents and 20 states while receiving 21 awards and 133 acceptances in international exhibitions.
I have exhibited at the Peanut Festival, Visual Arts Center in Panama City, Florida, Marianna Jr. Women's Club Art Show, Marianna Arts Show, and exhibits in Tallahassee, Florida and Rome & Macon, Georgia. In the 1990s I belonged to DWAL for a short time and exhibited in one of their exhibitions.
My wife, Wanda, and I started two camera clubs in the 1970s...one in Columbus, Ga and one in Tallahassee, Florida.
